New country combo The Mudslingers are getting kudos, not mud, slung their way for debut single "Devils Ways”, a hard-edged country-rock cut with real commercial potential (it quickly charted high on the DMDS downloads chart and is grabbing plenty of country radio adds). The band is led by songwriting siblings Ryan (lead vocalist), Jarrod Connolly (lead guitar), and cousin Connor McWatters (drums) rounding out the family-based trio. Those links show in their tight sound, one neatly captured by producer Paul Carroll (Will Ardell, Bordeen). The Mudslingers are now working on their debut full-length album. No live dates announced as of yet. An act to keep an eye and ear on. NewCanadianMusic.ca
Mudslingers -- "Game Of Life" -- (Music Solutions): The Canadian trio formed round brothers Jarred and Ryan Connolly with bud Connor McWatters perfectly connects the dots between The Sheepdogs and the Capricorn 'sound' which is just another way of saying these Mudslingers have captured that enticing sound that in another era spawned rock n' roll. This isn't alt, it ain't even hip but it hits the core, it's commercial and it rocks. Does anything more count?
Hailing from Mount Albert, Ontario, this new wave band of country lads The Mudslingers are locked and loaded with their outstanding debut single “Devils Ways” which exemplifies how exciting country music is today.
When asked to define the source for the name “The Mudslingers” Ryan Connolly says, “It’s when you are kickin’ the mud off your boots after getting off your horse or when one is determined and dedicated to going against the grain combined with a bit of anarchy to feed the musical soul.”
The Mudslingers are Ryan Connolly (writer, lead vocalist and rhythm guitar), his brother Jarrod Connolly (writer, vocals and lead guitar) and cousin Connor McWatters (drummer and vocals). They are an undeniable power trio of brilliant young lads whose love of country music is evident as they put their own spin on it. The Mudslingers are exciting, pulsating and infused with that fire which you will recognize on your very first listen to their first single “Devils Ways“.
Ryan and Jarrod have been playing and writing together since they were 13-years-old and have never stopped searching for their musical identity. Once they hooked up with their cousin Connor in 2011 the writing was on the wall and there was no stopping the creative flow of their amazing songs.
At the production helm of this brilliant musical work is Oscar nominee, Paul Carroll of Private Records based out of Newmarket, Ontario who has also produced Canadian artists such as Will Ardell, Dallas Mann, Bordeen and Breaking Lakes. The Mudslingers invited Paul to join them for their video shoot and you can view his performance in the video for “Devils Ways” as he contributes that perfect 3rd guitar line in the front row.
